The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
Last weekend I decided to go to a local park and see what wildflowers were blooming in this extra hot summer season. I found quite a few flowers putting on a show. After taking photos of the flowers, I thought I’d try a little painting.
I drove to another nearby park that I hadn’t been to before. There was a little pond and a butterfly garden, but it was all mowed and boring looking. Gardeners like neat, tidy places – but artists like the scene to be a bit wild and messy!
I almost walked back to the car to leave, but on my way I noticed the little dirt path back to the parking area might make a decent painting. So I set up under the shade of a tall pine tree and tried to make the scene a little more interesting than it was. I made the dirt trail more exaggerated than it was in real life, but I think it worked out OK.
Luckily I painted quick and finished up the painting just as a thunderstorm started to roll in.

Thanks Margé! I always have a good time out painting – whether the painting turns out OK or not, at least I learned something!
