The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
A couple of weeks ago I was driving down a road in Eustis taking a short cut from the Lakeside drive to Bay St. I’ve never taken this shortcut before, so seeing this cute little train depot tucked down a classic Florida dirt road was a nice surprise!
So this weekend I went back to paint the depot. It was a glorious spring day with temps in the 70’s and a cool breeze. The long dirt road leading up to the building was spotted with palms and weeds and potholes! The two old pencil thin cedar trees on either side of the doorway were pretty good too. The depot is in a quiet neighborhood just outside of downtown Eustis. I set my gear up in the middle of the dirt road and only had to move out of the way once – for a lost tourist from Michigan!
I only had about 2 hours to paint before I had to leave. I’d like to go back with a larger canvas and paint a more detailed view of the depot.
‘Til next time…
