The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
After visiting Curry Hammock State Park, we drove a little north toward Islamorada and visited Long Key State Park.
We arrived right at low tide and the grass flats were exposed for seemed miles. Ibis and other shore birds were feeding in the grass.
I set up to paint another mangrove tree. I liked how it was sitting all by itself on the shallow beach.
While I painted Rick waded waaaaay out to fish. He was so far away sometimes I couldn’t even see him. He did manage to catch a few small fish. Once we were in the car to leave he told me he saw a shark swim by his legs. Glad I didn’t know that while he was still in the water!
I almost forgot to take a photo of my painting! Just as I put away my brushes I realized it and took a quick photo before I packed up my box.
Long Key has a nice beach area and several trails through the mangroves along the water. It is a nice spot to visit and picnic while you are driving to Key West!
