The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Park #117 – Madira Bickel Mound State Archaeological Site

The road leading to Madira Bickel Mound is what makes this park memorable. I’ve driven by this area off of I-275 just south of the Skyway Bridge many times, but have never stopped. The road to the park winds along the waterway lined with tall palms  on one side and old historic homes on the other. Once you arrive at the park there are more palms!

I took the steps to the top, but unfortunately it was very wooded and the view to the bay was blocked. So I set up my gear to paint the tall palms lining the sidewalk.

Beautiful Terra Ceia Preserve is nearby so be sure to visit both parks if you are in the area.
