The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Park #107 – Lake Jackson Mounds Archeological State Park

Lake Jackson Mounds Archeological State Park is located in the suburbs of Tallahassee just north of I-10. It’s location in town makes one realize that if some places in Florida were not state parks, they would be turned into a subdivision or shopping center.

This park is very close to Lake Jackson and has a little stream running through the park. I set up in the shade of the picnic pavilion and painted one of the smaller mounds as the sunlight hit the green grass. There are some steps to the top of the larger mound, and along the way I saw some frogs and even a black snake darted across the steps!

This is a very quiet park to spend an afternoon.
