The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
This post is the 100th painting on the Florida State Park Tour! Only a few months left to complete my goal of painting at each of Florida’s State Parks this year.
This section of the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park is located at the former Katies Landing canoe launch on the Wekiva River. Katie’s was a popular place for many years and thousands of people used this launch to explore the spring fed Wekiva River. Katie’s is gone now, but this beautiful bit of land has now become part of the adjacent state park.
Right across the street from the parking area at Katie’s, is a trail that winds through the pine forests of the main park. It is very wooded, and fall is a good time to see many flowers and butterflies.
I had an enjoyable morning painting along the river. I’ve painted from this spot before. In fact it was the first place I painted after recovering from a broken wrist a couple of years ago. I am glad to say I painted better this time!
