The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Park #94 – Avalon State Park

Avalon State Park is located just south of Vero Beach. It is a beautiful stretch of beach along A1A, with forested land across the road on the bayside too. There is a trail to an observation tower on the bay, but we stayed on the beach side. The beach here is very nice with white sand and clear water. I think we were lucky there weren’t more people on the day we were there.

I was pretty tired from having painted already that morning, so I sat on a bench and painted a study of the waves. I haven’t done much painting of waves close-up and they are hard to paint for sure. The water just keeps moving and changing!

Beautiful painting Sharon! I cannot believe that you are painting in this horrible heat and humidity.. I did not even see a  t reearound the areas where you were painting. Can only imagine theheat coming off that white sand. I hope you were able to take adip in the ocean.  It is a beautiful beach.. Margé
