The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
We drove into to Three Rivers State Park (just west of Tallahassee near the Georgia border) in the middle of a hot steamy typical Florida summer afternoon. As we passed the entrance station, we saw a fox squirrel in the pines. He seemed smaller than what we normally see in southern Florida.
Further down the road we came to a picnic area with a hillside trail overlooking the lake. After a bit of exploring we drove even further along the road to the boat ramp area. The air was thick and steamy and the sun super bright! Rick fished on a small dock while I found a bench in the shade to paint the lotus blooming in the lake.
While I was painting, I thought my colors were just perfect – a clear blue for water and bright green on the lily pads. But when I saw the painting a few days later back at home, the colors I painted certainly were affected by the steamy air!
