The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
When we got to this park in the middle of a hot summer day, there weren’t any other cars in the parking lot!
It was very quiet and serene walking up the brick walkway to the old historic plantation style home. From the breezeway you are struck with an awesome hillside view way down to the Apalachicola River. For Florida, this type of hillside view is rare!
As we walked we saw a few of the Torreya Trees. This rare species is down to just 600 trees, many of which are preserved in this park. The obvious scene to paint was the view down to the river, so I set up my gear on the back lawn. Florida doesn’t offer too many high vistas, so this was fun to paint!
