The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Park #45 John D. MacArthur State Park

John D. MacArthur State Park is located just north of West Palm Beach and is a haven of nature amid the bustling congestion nearby. When you first pull in, the drive is surrounded by a dense forest of seagrapes and mangroves. From the parking area and visitors center, there is a long boardwalk over a salt lagoon to the beach. The boardwalk is so long, they offer a golf cart taxi to take visitors across. There weren’t many people on the beach as it was a little chilly and very windy. It was great for painting, but a bit cool for sunbathing! I decided to paint the dune facing north since the sun was better on that side.
