The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Park #33 – Dade Battlefield Historic State Park

I painted at Dade Battlefield Historic State Park early on a Sunday morning. First I toured the park. A self guided walking tour winds under the oaks and pines with monuments to the fallen soldiers of the Second Seminole War. As you walk, markers tell the story of the day’s events. There was practically no one around, making it an eerie experience. Some very large picturesque oaks that must be hundreds of years old lined the trail, along with some wild yellow sunflowers. I decided to paint the front entrance gate, the stone had a unique color and form.
