The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location
We arrived early at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park to a quite park with no one around and 1 car in the parking lot. We walked around the park and followed the garden trail and I took some photos of the flowers. At the end of the trail is the visitors center which used to be the old homestead house. Behind the house the gardens give way to a lovely waterfront along the intercoastal waterway, where pelicans cruised with their wingtips touching the water and dolphin fished in the channel. The orange clay trail along the seawall caught my eye with it’s dappled shadows on the path under the oaks and palms. As I set up to paint, I started hearing more people and turned around to see about 50 people seated for a presentation on the history indian life in the area. I listened a little, but painting takes a lot of concentration!
