The Florida State Park Plein Air Painting Tour – Painting each of Florida's State Parks on location

Flagler Beach Paintout

This past Friday & Saturday were spent at Flagler Beach for the Gallery of Local Art (GOLA) Paintout. The days were finally warm and it was pleasant to be out in the ocean air for the weekend. Flagler Beach is just a few miles north of Daytona Beach – but it feels like a world away. While Daytona’s beach is blocked by old ramshackle hotels and new boxy sky rises – Flagler’s beach is wide open to see right from the road for miles. There are several parks along A1A to keep the natural feel, and downtown is made up with just a few tiny streets. It’s like a country town right on the ocean.

With only 2 days to paint I stressed a bit to produce something worthy of hanging! The opening reception is this Friday night from 6 to 8pm at GOLA, and the paintings will be hanging thru April 30th. Be sure to stop by!
